Small Projects Grant Application

The Deschutes Trails Coalition announces their annual Small Projects Grant program for trail-focused projects within or contiguous to the Deschutes National Forest. For 2024, applications will be accepted from April 15 through May 21. This program will award up to $35,000 for multiple small projects.

The Deschutes Trails Coalition is soliciting proposals for trails-focused small projects occurring on, or impacting, publicly accessible trails in the Deschutes National Forest or other trail networks within Deschutes County. Project proposals that maintain or restore existing trails are encouraged. Application forms and instructions will be available on our website.

Project Summary

Provide a brief summary of your project’s short, medium and long-term objectives.
Please explain how this project enhances and/or addresses the DTC’s Mission, Vision, and Goals as presented in the DTC’s Strategic Plan.
Please respond to how your project enhances or addresses the following elements of sustainability of the Central Oregon trail network (this includes all areas within Deschutes National Forest (DNF) and those areas outside the DNF that are within Deschutes County).
Refer to the evaluation criteria to assist you in developing a complete answer; (i.e., how does the proposed project reduce impacts of recreation on wildlife, reduce the impacts of recreation on water quality, and/or reduce the ecological impact of users on the trail system?)
Refer to the evaluation criteria to assist you in developing a complete answer; (i.e. how many trail user groups will benefit from this project, what are the benefits to user groups, how does the project increase accessibility to all types of trail users, etc.)
Refer to the evaluation criteria to assist you in developing a complete answer; (i.e. how does this project enhance the physical robustness of the trail system, improve wayfinding or enhance trail stability?)
Refer to the evaluation criteria to assist you in developing a complete answer; (i.e., how does this project enhance the quality of trail user experience, increase the value of existing trails efforts, etc.)

List volunteer sources and estimate numbers of volunteers and volunteer hours
List other secured funding sources that will be used as match including source, amounts, and date secured
